With 2,400 exhibitors at the Mobile World Congress, Clarion Gaming gains valuable insights and inspiration.
Clarion Gaming recently concluded the latest session in a series of orientation visits, which commenced in October 2023. The organizing team, tasked with delivering the inaugural editions of ICE and iGB Affiliate at Gran Via Barcelona, actively participated in the Mobile World Congress (MWC), a renowned international event featuring 2,400 exhibitors. This marked the 18th year of the MWC at the venue, serving as a significant milestone for the industry.
The orientation initiative provided an invaluable opportunity for the Clarion team, alongside several clients, to immerse themselves in the operational intricacies of Gran Via Barcelona, the venue for what is arguably the largest and most influential event in the connectivity ecosystem: the Mobile World Congress (MWC). This event attracts top-tier mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors, and content owners from across the globe.
Clarion Gaming’s Managing Director, Stuart Hunter, elucidated the purpose behind this initiative, stating: “Mobile World Congress relocated to Gran Via Barcelona in 2006 when it was similar in scale to the current ICE and iGB Affiliate. Since then, it has flourished, spanning over 220,000 gross square meters across eight interconnected halls, making it one of Europe’s largest and most modern venues.”
He continued: “Much like ICE/iGB Affiliate, MWC serves as a focal point for tens of thousands of senior executives, global companies, international regulators, and pioneering tech businesses, facilitating crucial business dealings, policy decisions, and industry innovation. Against this backdrop, gaining ‘behind-the-scenes’ insights into how the MWC brand capitalizes on the venue’s interconnected spaces was immensely valuable, fostering a wealth of connections and opportunities for all stakeholders.”
Hunter also highlighted: “In addition to addressing venue-specific operational matters, the team experienced the visitor journey firsthand, including the transportation infrastructure linking Fira Gran Via to Barcelona’s El Prat International Airport (12 km) and the historic city center (3 km) via an integrated metro station. We eagerly anticipate continuing our series of orientation events throughout the year, engaging our entire stakeholder community.”
For ICE/iGBA 2025, approximately 120,000 gross square meters of Gran Via will be utilized across Halls 1 (iGB Affiliate) and 2-6 (ICE), with an additional 160,000 square meters exclusively reserved for ICE/iGBA over the five-year tenancy. The Convention Centre, situated in Hall 8, offers a modular and versatile space accommodating between 3,000 and 12,000 attendees.
