Clarion Announces Launch of Sustainable Gambling Zone: Shifting Focus Towards Safer Practices
The Consumer Protection Zone (CPZ), established at ICE 2018 and now evolving into the Sustainable Gambling Zone (SGZ), emerges as a prominent fixture on the ICE show floor, prioritizing sustainable gambling practices.
After extensive stakeholder consultation, the decision to rebrand the Consumer Protection Zone (CPZ) into the Sustainable Gambling Zone (SGZ) reflects a heightened emphasis on proactive customer interventions throughout the player journey. The SGZ will debut at July’s iGB L!VE before its official launch at ICE 2025, marking the industry’s influential b2b gaming show’s move to Barcelona.
Ewa Bakun, Clarion Gaming’s Director of Industry Insight and Engagement, emphasized the SGZ’s evolution beyond a mere cosmetic change. She noted its focus on engaging operators committed to long-term sustainability, aiming to embed safer gambling considerations from the outset rather than as a compliance afterthought.
The overarching objective of the SGZ is to pioneer initiatives promoting healthy play and sustainable business practices, actively identifying and assisting at-risk players. While not yet industry-wide, this holistic approach is integral to fostering a safer gambling environment.
Stuart Hunter, Clarion Gaming Managing Director, highlighted Barcelona’s role in expanding ICE and iGB Affiliate offerings while raising industry standards. The SGZ’s broader appeal aligns with the move, bringing it closer to continental Europe and culturally to Latin American markets. Barcelona marks a new chapter for ICE/iGB Affiliate and their features, including the Sustainable Gambling Zone.
